Today’s word of the day id Exiguity – the quality of being meager, leanness, meagerness, scantiness, scantness, poorness. inadequacy, deficiency, insufficiency – lack of an adequate quantity or number. Good luck using this in conversation today.
I’m reading a book on Hermeneutics and understanding very little of it, but what I did pick up was that Martin Heidegger supported the Nazi regime of WWII. Knowing this seems to affect my capability to understand what he was referring to by Dasein and also makes me less inclined to learn about other philosophers who were influenced by Heidegger. Should I be able to dismiss Heidegger’s Nazi sympathies in order to understand his work or should I not bother, because I’m disgusted by his political views? I think I have to respect someone as a person before I can feel I can learn from her / him?
